It’s the end of summer at Boys & Girls Clubs of North County. Club members had a fun-filled summer thanks to the Club’s community partnerships! The Club’s summer partnerships with other nonprofits and local organizations were important to the overall summer experience for our Club members.
Fallbrook Regional Health District helped sponsor the Water Safety Program during the summer. The Club not only teaches kids how to swim, but we also teach them how to rescue other swimmers experiencing distress in the water safely and quickly. Young children are at the highest risk of drowning, and the Club with the help of the Fallbrook Regional Health Center ensures water safety is taught at an early age throughout the summer, and usually non-swimmers are happily swimming and safely playing in the water by the end of the summer. Children from the Child Development Center (CDC) also partner with the Club and their youngest charges from 3 to 4 years old are taught how to swim.
The Club’s partnership with Cal State San Marcos School of Nursing provides health services and education during the summer. The Fallbrook Gardening Club also partnered with the Club and provided gardening experience at the Ingold Clubhouse. The Fallbrook Rotary Club spent a day volunteering and doing space-themed activities with the Club members and Regal Theater donated a month’s worth of movie tickets for Club members to go to the movies!
Kohl’s provided a back-to-school clothing grant, and ten deserving Club members went on a shopping spree to stock up on clothes, shoes, and accessories for the new school year! Fallbrook’s Ace Hardware supported the Club during June by rounding up receipts for the entire month. Vision to Learn tested over 100 Club members’ eyes and provided prescription glasses to those in need.
